Combat within Hive: Cataclysm consists of your normal styles of combat, ranged and melee. As such with regards to the calls themselves they are generally interchangable and; with few exceptions, generally cross over between ranged combat and melee during combatitive situations that the player may encounter or be engaged within. Some calls relate to certain skills or actions with regards to those calls utilised by crafters, whilst others are purely Ref out of character saftey calls should an incident or problem occur. Some calls have certain effects In character upon the player for a limited period of time, whilst some can have longer effects that require another skill in order to resolve.  

Combat CallsEdit

Below is the system combat, and general calls present within Hive:Cataclysm. A description of the effect and whether or not the call needs to be made verbally so that others may hear it has been included alongside the call, as well as any calls that may only be called by Refs in certain circumstances.

Man-Down

Only to be used in an emergency, everyone within 15 metres is to take a knee and cease all action immediately and may only continue action upon the decision of a referee

Time-Freeze

Only utilised by Ref's, players are to close their eyes until instructed otherwise in order to allow dead crew to be recycled or for an effect to be momentarily sorted out. This is an OOC Safety Call.

Combat Calls

Single

Does one point of damage, this call is non verbalised and counts for any single hit taken by a player, be it Ranged or from Melee unless otherwise specified

Double

Does two points of damage

Stun

Stuns a Player, must act dazed/stunned for 10 seconds (cannot defend themselves during this 10 seconds)

Paralysis

Paralyses a Player, must remain in position for 10 seconds acting stuck (can still defend themselves with their arms however/dodge with their body)

Critical

Drops player to zero hits and begins their bleed count

Ravage

Reduces a player down to one hit and reduces their bleed count to 90 seconds

Strike-Down

Strikes a player from their feet. Must go down to the ground/take a knee if not able and then can get up again. Takes a single point of damage alongside this

Shatter

Shatters a shield/weapon. Shield may not be used again until fixed with the ‘repair’ skill

Allows a player to fix a shatter shield/weapon after 10 seconds of role play

Mass

Area effect call (10 metre diameter)

Suppressing Fire

Players within a 5 metre diameter area of this call must lay prone until effect of this call has expired e.g. the weapon firing expends the current magazine of ammo it is firing. They may move slowly as if crawling on their bellies, otherwise they must act as if they are keeping their heads down and seeking cover. Players behind viable cover must remain behind it and act as if they are hunkering down behind said cover.

Execute

Spend 5 seconds roleplaying executing your target after they have been dropped to Zero hits. This call depletes the targets bleed count to zero.

Inspect

Player spends 30 seconds roleplaying going over the piece of arms tech at the end of which if they go to a ref they will learn what they have learnt

Declaration to ref required once completed

Analyse

Player spends 30 seconds roleplaying going over the piece of bio tech at the end of which if they go to a ref they will learn what they have learnt

Declaration to ref required once completed

Deconstruct

Player spends 30 seconds roleplaying going over the piece of cyber tech at the end of which if they go to a ref they will learn what they have learnt

Declaration to ref required once completed

Hacking

Player spends 30 seconds role playing going over the piece of cyber tech as if they trying to access it via personal means at the end of which if they go to a ref they will learn what they have found/accessed
